Almost a year ago, a gay Xbox designer, Jim Durrant, sued Microsoft for £45 000 at the London South Employment Tribunal for emotional damages and loss of earnings, for discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation. Durrant said at the time, according to The Telegraph, that the firm did not have policies in place to deal with his complaints about homophobic harassment. He was apparently harassed by his own colleagues. Just a month prior to that, The Telegraph reported that Microsoft had banned a gamer from playing on Xbox Live because she used the word lesbian in her gamer tag. Well, homophobia has reared its ugly head once again in the gaming world, only this time things are being taken seriously. (more…)
