  1. Dan Says:

Unfortunatly if you are an expat or someone that travels extensively and has accumulated multiple discs from various regions dont expect them to work with this player. Following a recommendation and direction to the region unlock screen by the sales rep at Harvey Norman in Singapore I bought this with a 42″ 200Hz TV assured that it would play all regions.

I was super impressed love the sound, love the look and great picture thats where the bubble bursts………..

Queue significant other wanting to watch region 2 Ponderland, disc doesnt work. Phone rep, he provides a code to us which didnt work. Recommends contact LG, LG then send a (very nice) technician out with a bunch of cd’s to unlock. Now, the confession begins, essentially LG have been threatened by the Blueray standards commission that they will be fined $25k for unlocking integrated Blueray/DVD players. However they wont tell their retailers that they have stopped doing this as they fear it will ruin sales. Correct however it will ruin sales anyway, I’ve just been recommended to return the whole lot and swap for a Samsung LED 40″ with soundbar for same price. What a shame, its my first experience of buying from LG and as I’ve already said I absolutley loved the feature set shame i’ll never get to use it.
