Panasonic DVD-RV31 DVD player: Maintaining the Tempo

Author: martin  //  Category: DVD

The Panasonic DVD-RV31 DVD is all about solid performance. It is integrated with a host of basic, but quality, features that definitely make it worth a consideration, especially if you consider the minimal impact its low price will have on your pocketbook. As an entry level player, it has just about all the features you could generally wish for. Then there are also some extra high-end features like the Advanced Virtual Surround Sound mode, which pumps out some wonderful surround sound. The feature making the most waves, however, is the smooth slow motion and fast scan feature, which is one of the smoothest in the industry. This unique feature has five speeds each, in forward and reverse modes. Then there is also the disc stabiliser feature that makes the playback of slightly warped discs possible. This factor will go a long way in ensuring that your favourite media files that may have been strained from years of stress, can still be used effectively to bring back those nostalgic memories.

The player also shows great competence in playing back CD-R and CD-RW formats and is an expert in decoding MP3 files. Moreover, you can record your favourite music and MP3s on CD-R and CD-RWs for hours of non-stop music entertainment. Another important reason for why you can’t help loving the unit is its amazing picture quality, which is pleasantly sharp, vivid and presents the frames in a great deal of detail. Then there is also the customary Video processing feature, typical of Panasonic, from which you can set the “Cinema Mode” video equalisation processing to “normal” or “cinema”.

You will, however, have to bear with occasional down-conversion artifacts when viewing anamorphic widescreen DVDs with a large 4:3 aspect ratio TV. With higher end DVD players, like the LG HT321DH, upconversion is not a problem, but of course this extra feature also costs extra. Furthermore, as another drawback, if the unit is placed higher than eye-level you will find it inconvenient to see the Front-panel LED display.
