Toshiba SD-580E DVD Player: Impressive Upscaling Capabilities
Author: martin // Category: DVDThere is a slight respite with the Toshiba SD-580E DVD Player as compared to the previous disappointing model, the XD-E500. This model comes with 720p, 1080i and 1080p upscaling for DVDs. This should please the HD TV owners who are looking to get the most out of their DVD collection.
Priced low, this DVD player has however compromised on the quality of build. With a plastic feeling fascia and light, hollow sounding body, the player is every bit a budget deck.
Physical drawbacks are however camouflaged with sleek, elegant and stylish dimensions. While there are least number of buttons which help keep the fascia neat, the four digit LED display panels is again disappointing. A welcome addition is the USB port which is hitherto missing in all previous models from Toshiba. USB port enables users to playback JPEG, DivX and MP3 files.
The back side of the player features connections like the SCART outputs, composite, component and HDMI. Audio components include the analogue stereo outputs and coaxial digital.
Contrast and brightness of the picture can be adjusted with the help of the Enhanced Picture Mode or the EPM. Virtual surround is generated with just two speakers with the help of the Enhanced Audio Mode. There are certain exotic features in this player too. These include the trickplay modes, night mode and the zoom mode.
Easy to use remote makes controlling quite easy. Logical menu navigation and core playback and labeled components make it very easy to use the Toshiba SD-580 DVD player. User interface is also responsive. Pictures are solid and enjoyable and this player is ideal for those who are not too demanding and choosy.
