I won’t deny I was a bit sceptical in the beginning, then I read what it is supposed to be endowed with like Freeview, full HD up-scaling, Divx, and the like and I thought it is worth a try. On its part DRT389H, LG’s combo of digital TV recorder and DVD recorder turned out to be a nice and useful product.

In very few words, it is digital TV recorder and a DVD recorder that receives up to 40 digital channels and can record up to 21 hours of videos. Now that’s encouragingly big for any home cinema enthusiast. And coming from a reliable brand like South Korean giant LG, this is worth every penny.

This product is claimed to be world’s first super multi DVD recorder by LG. It has the capability to record on DVD-RAM and DVD +/-R, +/-RW and DVD+R Dual layer formats. That means you have plenty of choices at hands to choose from.

To ensure better recording the DVD recorder makes use of True View Pro. It employs MCTF (motion-compensated temporal filtering) to eliminate the random noise inherent in the analogue video sources. MCTF on its part removes any kind of colour breaks from the original video signals. It carries out the task through frame-by frame filtering before the signals shall be processed in the main chipset.

The best part of the player is the use of Progressive Scan technology that makes viewing very comfortable for the eyes. The way the LG DRT389H works is that all the colours are projected instantaneously onto the screen. The result is there is no flickering and the image has very high density.

It also has HDMI 1.3 with 1080p for up-scaling. To help you connect your digital cameras, camcorders and mp3 players it provides a USB port. The Simplink technology that it uses allows you to control your device with the LG TV remote itself. It also has 8 day programme guide, can playback MP3 and WMA files as also the JPEG files.

You can be very sure of a satisfying experience if you use this product. This offering from LG deserves to be part of all home theatre enthusiasts.
