Over the years, iPods have become increasingly important in ordinary people’s everyday lives, whether you use your iPod for storage or whether you use it for music, it is undisputed that iPods are essential accessories to have in the 21st century. This is a step-by-step guide to new users of the Apple iPod; one of the most commonly used devices in the world today.
Installing iTunes
Upon purchasing an iPod, the user will receive an installation disk and cable to connect the iPod to a Mac computer or PC. The new user must first install the latest version of iTunes on his/her computer which is available on the disk mentioned above. The user should select the option that makes iTunes the default music player for the PC (this is automatic on a Mac). Once the user has completed installation of iTunes he/she can move on to the next step.
Connecting your iPod and Loading Music
Connect the iPod to your Mac or PC via the cable provided upon purchase. This should automatically launch iTunes and allow the user to either have iTunes load music automatically to the iPod or alternatively the user can opt to manually load music and files they specifically want. Connecting your iPod to your PC or Mac also charges the iPod´s battery. You may also charge the iPod by hooking it up to a charger, which is sold separately from the iPod. In order to manually add content, drag the chosen file from your iTunes library to your iPod icon in the iTunes Source list.
Disconnecting your iPod
Once you have finished loading all the content you want on your iPod, click on the ‘eject iPod’ symbol on the right side of your iPod in the iTunes source list. Once you click on that symbol, your iPod should display a sign that reads “Okay to Disconnect”. Once this appears, you can remove your Apple iPod from your Mac or PC and enjoy the loaded music.
Playing your iPod
Select Menu and scroll to whichever subsection you want to play the music from and enjoy the Apple iPod experience. Different iPods come with different spatial allocations and colours. The bigger the amount of space offered the more music you can put in, the Apple iPod 32 GB touch for instance has a capacity to hold 7000 songs.
