NEC NP115: Cheap DLP projector is better than you might think
Author: kate // Category: ProjectorsA video projector is basically a device which takes video signal and projects the image on a big screen. Most of the video projectors available in the market use a lens system to project images. The video projectors actually use a very bright light to project images on the big screen. Some of the most advanced video projectors can easily correct all sorts of curves and blurriness through the manual settings. The NEC NP115 is one of the best examples for an advanced video projector. This projector is actually based on the DLP technology which is one of the most advanced technologies available in the market.
Decent quality is perfect for educational purposes
The NEC NP115 is widely used in a number of educational institutions and offices because it offers a superior clarity. It is true that a DLP projector is priced on the higher side but after using the device you would feel the buying it was worth. The most important thing which determines the clarity of a projector is the resolution. The resolution of NEC NP115 projector is around 800 X 600 Pixels which is much more than various other projectors available in the market. The brightness of a projector matters a lot that is why NEC NP115 provides a brightness of 2,500 ANSI lumens. You can search for various video projectors online but you will hardly find any which has a brightness of 2500 ANSI Lumens.
Low contrast ratio, but average lamp life
The contrast ratio of this NEC DLP projector is around 2,000:1 which is good enough. The bulb and lamp are two of the most important components of any projector and you must make sure that the projector you are buying is fitted with a durable lamp and bulb. The NEC NP115 is equipped with a very durable lamp and bulb which offers a bulb life of 3500 hours and lamp life of 5000 hours. These figures are provided as per the usage of the bulb and lamp. Another problem which arises with a projector is the projector distance. Projector distance basically stands for the minimum and maximum distance at which the projector will provide a clear picture. The minimum distance of NEC NP115 DLP projector is around 1.2 m and maximum distance is around 13 m.
Noisy, and with basic features
The problem with a video projector is that it emits too much sound which can spoil the fun or distract the viewers. But the manufacturers of NEC NP115 overcame this problem and that is why it offers a silent operation. The noise emission of NEC NP115 when in use is around 34 Db which is quite low in comparison with other similar projectors available in the market. On the other hand, you can further reduce the noise by switching the device on the eco mode. The NEC NP115 DLP projector is a very advanced projector but it is equipped with a manual focus. Actually the developers have purposely added this feature because the manual focus is far better than the automatic focus. Anyone can easily correct the size of the image using the manual focus. Whereas the automatic focus is a complex process and it is not as hassle free as the manual focus is.
Plenty of connection ports
The NEC NP115 is fixed with various connection ports which include Composite Video Input (RCA), D-Sub, D-Sub Output, Mini Jack and S-Video. All these connection ports allow you to connect a number of devices with the DLP projector. The height, width and depth of NEC projector are around 95 mm, 310 mm and 247 mm respectively. The device is portable enough and can be easily stored as well. The power consumption of this projector is around 210 watt when in use and 0.7 watt on the standby mode. Unlike NEC NP115 most of the DLP projectors available in the market consume a lot of energy and increase the electricity bill.
A somewhat attractive appearance
The NEC NP115 provides a vertical and horizontal frequency range of around 50 – 120 Hz and 15 – 100 kHz. On the other hand, NEC NP115 projector is fitted with some of the most advanced features which include Power Off Timer and Keystone Correction. It is available in a stylish white colour which gives it a sophisticated and attractive look. The NEC NP115 is provided with a warranty which makes it one of the most reliable buy in case of DLP projectors.

I’ve never read anything like this review before: has it been automatically-generated by a computer? Or do you cut-and-paste from a database of stock sentences? It is quite incoherent. How can the projector both emit a lot of noise and yet be silent?! The review is riddled with factual inaccuracies – e.g. if you search on line you will find hundreds of projectors brighter than 2500 lumens; the bulb and the lamp are not two separate components with different lifetimes: the bulb lasts 3000 hours in full mode and 5000 hours if used in economy mode; there is no separate “lamp” lifetime.
