Hitachi UT37X902: Entrapping Design vs moderate Features

Author: kate  //  Category: Television

Designed to kill, the Hitachi UT37X902 is making waves from the moment it has been open to public scrutiny. With the panel measuring a measly 1.6 inches, it is the ultimate display of technological marvel and design. The base of the deck is another strong style statement and consists of a doughnut-like ring as opposed to the standard solid pedestal.

The superb design of the deck notwithstanding, it has been inscribed with enough quality features to give its competitors a run for the money. The unit has a native resolution of 1080p, but ironically enough its 37-inch screen size makes it impractical to gauge the benefits derived from it. Really a larger sized television, like the Hitachi L42VP01, is necessary to derive any value from 1080p. Nevertheless, the UT37X902 does shine with its AV centre feature as well as the popular 120Hz refresh rate feature replete with dejudder processing. The AV Centre feature plays an indispensable role in upholding the desirability of the unit, as it all but looks pedestrian bereft of it, as there is no provision of NTSC tuner or a new digital ATSC tuner to cover over-the-air broadcasts.

The picture quality of the unit is effectively taken care of by the three picture modes that can be adjusted. You will however rue that the unit has only one HDMI input, as it impacts the unit’s capability to associate with different inputs. Moreover, it also indicates that you are left with a deck that is deficient in independent input memories.

You are also provided with a multitude of advanced control features including a custom colour temperature adjustment with both gains and cuts, three types of noise reduction, and a contrast mode that works best in the “Linear” option. Connectivity is somewhat of a concern with the UT37X902, especially since there is only one HDMI input along with an analogue, VGA-style PC input.
