Panasonic’s Viera TX-32LXD85: Large shoes to fill

Panasonic’s latest offering, the Panasonic’s Viera TX-32LXD85, has big shoes to fill as it comes barely a few months after the launch of the much acclaimed and well received 32LZD85. The latter model did in fact set a benchmark for the company, and raise expectations for the Viera TX-32LXD85. These expectations can prove to be either an advantage, or disadvantage, depending on the unit’s performance. It is however pertinent on the part of the customers not to have unrealistic expectations from the Viera TX-32LXD85. This is especially true since it is a bit of a budget player, which in no way can be compared with its much expensive predecessor.

The major selling point of the device is its toned down price, while at the same time retaining the features that are usually found on its more expensive counterparts.

The unit comes equipped with the efficient looking picture processing combination of Panasonic’s V-Real Pro 3 system and 100Hz. The former feature is an important tool as far as picture quality is concerned as it intuitively reduces picture noise, while improving the Panasonic TX-32LXD85’s colour combination, detail and contrast. The latter feature, on the other hand, doubles the usual PAL refresh rate thereby lending an element of fluidity to moving objects so that they look more sharp and believable. Then, there is a set of three HDMI sockets, in addition to a SD slot that allows you the discretion to directly playback digital images.

Colour is one area to swoon for, as you get to view images that are ultra-vivid with a good deal of natural hues. Moreover, darker and more muted sequences are well complemented by some of the most natural and wide-ranging tones you can ever comprehend. The wonderful colour gain is accompanied by an equally competitive contrast range that elevates the overall experience you have with the set.
