Hannspree XV HT09-28E1: Bargain Product, but is it worth it?

Been dying to get one of these but put off by the price? Well . . .Dreams do come true. At the price of £289.80, it’s surely a great bargain. Now, the see the good and not so good of it:

First, let’s see what is actually good about it.

The price is unbelievably good. Pictures are standard definition and high definition resulting in clearly good picture quality. Unusually good 1080p resolution is a dream come true. The HANNspree HT09-28E1-000 LCD TV has a sedate sober look as opposed to some peculiar models Hannspree has brought out before that helps it integrate into it’s surroundings rather than stand out too much. Two HDMI ports and a D-Sub port for easy PC hook-up have been included in the price which is not a bad deal at all.

The operating system on the Hannspree XV series TV is pretty good too. The on screen menus have an appealing look, the design for which is new and refreshingly different. It’s slim and sleek look is very pleasing to the eye. Place it next to its more expensive competitors, like the Panasonic TX-26LXD80, and it definitely beats them hands down. Other favourable aspects: adaptive contrast management, multi-level noise reduction, contrast balancing and colour transient improvements.

Now for the not so good points:

The audio quality could have been a lot better. There’s hardly any base so intensity of sound is lacking.
The dark scenes and motion leave a lot to be desired.
The remote control does not compare well and is difficult to use because of the layout.
CAM slot not included.

All things considered it’s a great buy for the price.
