Hi Patrick,
According to the product’s owner’s manual it does come with a regional code printed on the rear of the unit, in this case the UK region. So it is not a region-free DVD player.

hi just put power on no disc message on remote pause 1472 enter press up button on remote until no 22 comes up change to 00 press enter turn off wait 30 secs worked fine on mine now multi reigon

Went to purchase this system at local argos was told I could not play tv programs sound through the system is this correct

No I would have thought it was quite possible.
The specificaton say’s:
•Portable audio in – connect any audio product from the headphone socket into the home cinema system.
