Pioneer DCS-580 DVD Home Cinema System: The People’s Choice
Author: kate // Category: Home CinemaPioneer has recently revealed the new 5.1-channel home cinema system, the DCS-580, which incorporated a host of vital specifications like a XV-DV580 DVD/CD receiver unit, four S-DV395T floor-standing speakers and the S-DV395SW subwoofer. The system is immaculately placed between the entry-level Pioneer DCS-370 and the spectacular LX01, consequently raising people’s expectations for it.
Like a typical Pioneer product the set is extremely stylish, and has a smooth finish with all the important connections and buttons imaginatively placed giving a minimalist look. The only things that are on show are a headphones jack, USB port and a slab of silver to cover the disc tray.
The quality of the speakers is a real surprise considering the price, and they are not only sturdily built but are less plasticky as well. Meanwhile, the subwoofer is pretty compact and attractive, and since it is passive it can do without its own power supply. You also get to have a discreet satellite centre speaker as well, making for an extensive speaker package with the Pioneer DCS-580 home cinema set. Connectivity of the unit is not an issue and you are assured of high resolution images up to the tune of 1080p, apart from 1080i. You have at your disposal features like optical digital and stereo audio inputs, stereo audio output, composite video and RGB SCART outputs, as well as ports to connect MCACC microphone and remote control. Moreover, you are also provided with a couple of antenna terminals for the FM and AM radio tuners.
The main receiver of the unit is capable of churning out an impressive 60W per channel of amplification, and is apt at decoding Dolby Digital and DTS, apart from the more contemporary Dolby Pro Logic II format, so that you can expand the two channel sources to 5.1.
